North Texas Commission Appoints New Leadership
Last Thursday, during the North Texas Commission’s Board of Directors meeting, President/CEO Chris Wallace announced the appointment of Patrick Brophey as Chief Operating Officer and Ashley Mergele as Vice President of Communications and Issue-Based Advocacy. The two have become the youngest individuals to hold leadership roles in the organization’s history.

Revenue for North Texas Fortune 500 Swells to $702.6 billion
The number of North Texas-based companies on the 2018 Fortune 500 list has grown from 18 to 22 in the last five years, according to an analysis by the North Texas Commission. Irving’s Exxon Mobil was the highest ranked North Texas company at No. 2. Returning to the top 500 is Irving’s Pioneer Natural Resources at No. 497.

North Texas – The North Texas Commission has hired Chris Wallace, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Texas Association of Business, to be its next President and CEO. Wallace succeeds James D. Spaniolo, who late last year announced his intent to retire.

North Texas Commission Selects James D. Spaniolo as President and CEO
The Executive Committee of the North Texas Commission has selected James D. Spaniolo to serve as the regional, non-profit organization’s next President and CEO. Spaniolo served as president of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) for almost a decade (2004-2013). His appointment will begin October 3, 2016, but he will be introduced at the 45th Annual Members’ Luncheon on September 15.

North Texas Region Moves up the Gross Metropolitan Product Ranks
The North Texas region is routinely cited as an economic powerhouse with major relocations and expansions such as Toyota and State Farm announced on a regular basis. This growth has resulted in a Gross Metropolitan Product (GMP) for the Dallas-Arlington-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) to $504.36 billion according to research compiled by the North Texas Commission.

NTx Apps Challenge Winners Announced
North Texas – The inaugural NTx Apps Challenge awarded $80,000 to five teams of web entrepreneurs who created sustainability apps to address four key municipal growth challenges; water conservation, waste and recycling, smart energy, and transportation. North Texas Commission rolls out preferred parking program for alternative fuel vehicles
The North Texas Commission launched a free program to establish preferred parking for alternative fuel vehicles (AFV). This program provides North Texas businesses with signage designating parking spaces as “AFV-Preferred” as a way to incentivize individuals to drive alternative fuel vehicles and help improve regional air quality. The parking signs are the first phase in the NTC’s work to promote AFVs in North Texas.
