Welcome to North Texas! If you’re reading this, you might fall into one of two camps, someone living in North Texas and someone exploring a relocation to the region. If you live here, we’re glad you’re here.
But if you’re like the thousands of people flocking to our region on a monthly basis, let me tell you about this dynamic place we call home.
North Texas is a 12-county region of 7.2 million people – and counting with 1 new person added every 3.3 minutes. We’re anchored by the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth with 14 cities with a population of more than 100,000 people. Since this organization was formed in 1971, the population of the region grew by 5 million people – that’s greater than today’s population of 29 of the 50 states. Geographically, North Texas is 9,000 square miles, larger than the states of New Jersey and Connecticut.
North Texas is home to the most diverse economy in Texas, and is the 4th fastest growing region in the U.S. Our job growth outpaces the U.S. at 3.6 percent, and we have a labor force that is 3.5 million strong. From aviation to energy, healthcare to manufacturing and logistics, North Texas is home to a broad, encyclopedic economy.
